Why Face ID will now work in landscape mode with Apple iOS 16

Apple introduced landscape mode to Face ID after announcing iOS 16 at the Worldwide Developers Conference event yesterday.

Changes haven’t been announced on stage, but how to get through the lock screen, Face ID works in landscape mode on “supported iPhone models”.

Currently, it is not clear what it is. It could be as simple as “everything but SE” or there may be a limitation that prevents older models from supporting Face ID.

This will become apparent as iOS 16 is about to go on sale.

By the way, landscape mode works for everything that Face ID is used for, such as logging in to a website or approving a purchase.

Landscape Face ID is not a new feature. Some iPad’s have supported it for years, but the iPhone does not.

It’s important to note that Apple iOS 16 updates aren’t available for the entire iPhone 6 and 7 series. The range includes iPhone 6, 6 +, 6S, and 6S +. The 7 series includes iPhone 7 and 7+. Both lines will operate for the remaining operating days.

Apple launched the 6 Series in 2014, but since the 7 Series was released in 2016, not many people have these devices. iPhone 8 and later devices are compatible with newer versions of iOS.

On the other hand, the 5th generation iPad is compatible with the latest iPad OS 16 update.
